I’ve been embarrassed when friends visit and want to go out for seafood here in Tallahassee. Sure we can go to a nicer restaurant for Grouper or Snapper- Or drive an hour to the coast for dinner. But until recently there have not been any places in town that have good fried fish. Thats changed with the Wharf Express opening in several locations in town.
I prefer the one off Magnolia and the parkway- the old Catfish Pad location. Free WiFi and a nice outdoor seating area.
You can get a plate of fried Mullet for $9 or the Panacea Platter is Shrimp, Oysters, Crab Cake and Mullet for $13!
Cheese Grits are good, Crab cakes are tasty and the prices are right!

LOVE the Wharf express. And they keep opening new locations so most likely they are close to anyone. This gulf coast girl is pretty picky about her fried seafood and the Wharf does it right. My favorite location is the one down at Summer Camp – on the beach! Great post, Barry!
Tried the Wharf Express out on North Monroe, by Winn-Dixie for the first time just a few months ago and was impressed. Have to admit I was a little afraid of the “Express” part, but they didn’t disappoint and we’ve gone back several times since. Sad thing is, just drove by today and saw that they’re closed down…not sure what happened there. And then by chance I find your post…didn’t realize there were more in town, thanks for the clue-in. 🙂
hey barry, drove by today and they were open. Will stop in this weekend and find out what happened. Just wanted to let you know so you could edit my previous comment if you like…don’t want to mislead anyone and have them miss out on the fried goodness. 🙂
